How to Enter

Exhibiting at the Hanleys Village Show is easy.  Please follow these simple steps to prepare your entries.  Specific section tips are available in the Guidelines page.

Whether you are a regular or a first-time exhibitor, we are here to support you.

Before the show
  • The show schedule is published every June.  Be sure to check the specific size and quantity requirements for categories like vegetables, flowers, and photos.

  • Pay attention to the definitions in the schedule. For instance, carrots and roses are grouped as 'kinds,' while pompom relates to a 'type,' and 'King Edward' refers to a specific 'variety.'

  • You can enter online or use a paper form from the schedule to email us. Online entries close three days before the show, while paper forms must be submitted four days in advance.

  • You can pay your entry fees when you pick up your class cards at the hall.

Setting out your entries
  • The hall is open for entries on the Friday before the show, between 3 and 5 pm, and on the Saturday morning between 8.30 and 10 am. We recommend setting your exhibits out on the Friday, which is calmer and quieter.  If coming on the Saturday, we suggest you arrive early to give yourself enough time to set up your display

  • On arrival, pick up your entry cards at the entrance. Place them face down next to your exhibit (so the judge can't see your name).

  • The hall closes at 10:00 am for judging. It re-opens to the public at 1:30 pm for the results.

  • Winners can collect prize money at the back of the hall. Trophies and cups will be presented from 4:00 pm.

  • Please leave your exhibits on display until 4:30 pm. You can take them home after the trophy ceremony.  Please don't leave anything behind - the committee cannot take responsibility for any lost property.

  • The hall closes at 5:00 pm.

  • If you have any questions, just ask our stewards who are happy to help.
